Our pH balance of 7.36-7.4 allows for the conductivity of electro-magnetic power throughout our body. That electrical power is created by our internal bio-chemistry. This is a very delicate balance, and acid coursing through our system breaks it down completely. In order to maintain this powerful electric current inside of us, our body MUST maintain a pH of 7.36 constantly. 

In fact, this is so important, that if this were to change by just a couple of points, it would alter your chemistry so radically that your entire system would simply shut down. You would die instantly. Imagine someone ‘pulling the plug’ on an electrical plant. That’s how important alkalinity is.

As Dr. Young often says, think of your body as a fish tank. Think of the importance of maintaining the integrity of the internal fluids of the body that we "swim" in daily. The fish in this tank are your cells and organ systems bathed in fluids, which transport food and remove wastes. If the fish get sick, do you treat the fish? You simply change the water!


THE ALKALINE-ACID BALANCE - NUTRITION

The body needs both types of foods. It is Alkaline by design and Acidic by function. However, intake alkaline forming food OUGHT to predominate over acid forming ones. Everyone is different in weight, gender, age but for most, the ideal diet is 75 percent alkalizing and 25 percent acidifying foods by volume. 

Alkalizing the body fluids (raising pH) is one of the single most important health regeneration benefits available as disease causing pathogens (fungi, bacteria, virus etc.) cannot survive in an alkaline oxygenated environment.

Examples of Alkali-forming foods include all raw green vegetables, fruits, herbs, figs, dates, almonds, seeds, goat milkgoat cheesesoy products amongst others. 

A food's acid or alkaline-forming tendency in the body has nothing to do with the actual pH of the food itself. For example: Though lemons, limes, and grapefruits are chemically acid, tests show  that when they are metabolized in the body they actually have an alkalizing effect and are very beneficial. 

Acid-forming foods include all cooked meat, processed sugars, all alcohol, eggs, dairy and most grains, processed white flour and all carbonated beveragesSynthetic Drugs are acid forming. Artificial chemical sweetener's like NutraSweet, Equal, or Aspartame, are extremely acid-forming. Fresh meat and fish before being cooked is Alkali but when cooked and eaten is extremely acidifying to the body. 

According to  Dr. Robert Young, in an acidic environment the body will begin to break down and show signs of disease including cancer, obesity, osteoporosis, yeast overgrowth, flu, skin disorders, etc

Fresh fruits and vegetables on the other hand, are alkaline-forming in the body because they contain many electrolyte minerals that help to maintain a healthy pH balance of 7.4 and a reserve of critical electrolytes. 

Acid-forming foods rob your body of critical electrolytes (calcium, magnesium, sodium, potassium). These nutrients are critical for neutralizing acids. Only fresh fruits and vegetables are alkaline producing to help your body maintain a healthy pH balance. However, most people all over the world have their eating habits in just the opposite direction of balance. They eat more processed foods, over-indulge in alcohol, meat and processed white flour products, giving their bodies extra work in maintain a balanced pH. 

The body will do whatever it takes to keep your pH balanced, whether you provide it alkalizing foods or not. When not getting sufficient alkalizing electrolytes from food, your body will borrow alkalizing minerals from your bones and other organs in order to keep your pH balanced. This shows up in the form of weak bones, arthritis, weakening organs and full-blown diseases.

The internal balance of your pH is VERY important, unfortunately few medical practitioners in western medicine are aware of the major role it plays in causing diseases.

Those Eight principles are the internal/externalcold/hotdeficient/excessyin/yang. This traditional theory is the same theory that is the basis for acupuncture. Herbs are categorized by their energy, actions and effect on the energy (organ) meridians based on these eight principles.
